The Wedding Rite
Dear Prospective Partners,
Thank you for choosing Shiloh New London Church to be a part of your union. Below are the Wedding Guidelines and a link to the Wedding Application for the use of the Shiloh Complex (i.e., Church and/or Family Life Center). Please review the guidelines and complete the short survey at your earliest convenience.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the administration office at churchadmin@shilohnlcomplex.org or call, (860) 443-6046, ext. 110.
Weddings Guidelines
The designated officiant will schedule counseling sessions with the couple at the officiant’s discretion. Couples should attend no less than three (perhaps more) counseling sessions before their wedding. The initial or final session will include a discussion on the specifics concerning the ceremony, i.e., unity candle, serving of communion, music, musician, solos, exchanging traditional and/or individual vows, single/double rings, video and/or picture-taking, sharing of ministerial duties if another minister is participating, etc.

If the couple desires to have their wedding reception in the Family Life Center’s Multipurpose Room, please click here (link to rentals sections from SDC side).
The Day of the Wedding: If the bridal party must dress at the church, accommodations will be made available. Candelabras, candles, floor runners, and decorations are the sole responsibility of the couple.
Although the Shiloh Maintenance Department will do general clean-up following the ceremony, if the bridal party has elected to dress and prepare themselves at the church, it is expected that they tidy up after themselves in the room or rooms they occupied before the ceremony.
The Funeral Rite
- After calling the mortician of choice, a family member must call the church office to inform the bishop/administrative assistant of the family member’s death and prepare for the funeral services. The mortician will contact the church to discuss available dates and times for the services to preclude scheduling conflicts.
- If the service programs are to be provided by the church, family members must provide the administrative office all the pertinent information:
- Obituary
- Pictures
- Desired/favorite songs
- Desired/favorite scriptures
- List of pallbearers
- Special request(s) (i.e., soloist and name, memorial tribute, family/friends’ reflections, and names)
- Family members may have programs prepared elsewhere if they so choose; however, notification of this intention should be given to the administrative office. Requests for the ministers to assist with the funeral service must be approved by the Senior Pastor.
- Calling hours prior to the services are concluded with a final viewing, after which the mortician will close the casket, and the services will begin.
- After the funeral, dinner is provided for the family upon returning from the gravesite. Depending on the anticipated attendance and availability, dinner may be served either in the Fellowship Hall or in the Multi-purpose Room of the Family Life Center. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to COVID-19, this service has been suspended indefinitely.
